Devon Handles

For anyone who may be interested.
I spoke to this guy at Dubfrezze and he mentioned he was expecting these reproduction handles in at any time.

Anyway he's got them in and i've just recieved mine for my Devon interior project. Not sure how authentic they are but there definately good enought for what I want.

i gave them a call and got talking to Stan, i think hes the guy you were talking to. Hes real old skool vw, he can get quite a list of goodies and quite a few bits not listed. He can even make up devon table legs, i think he was selling new sets for £24 for 3 or 4 i think.

seemed like a nice chap, so i thought id post some of the bits and pieces. he does the devon table trim and can make a matching dash table using the original formica and put the chrome/black devon trim around it for £35.

I spoke to stan today, and he mentioned he had ivory coloured handles for a dormy,

my cheques in the post (he doesnt accept plastic!) for some devon handles, he had a first batch of 200 and is about to place another order, he does say he can get anything - eventually,

hes worth a phone call.

Recieved my Handles today - by return post!!

One question remains, How do i get the old manky handles off, the back of the doors are a solid sheet, so i am assuming the were glued in?

Any ideas welcome

I was working in the Rotherham area today so last night I got the old latch off my Devon bed,
Got to my job in Rotherham & worked at lightening speed :lol: then sat naved Caravan supplies.
Got the latch I was after & was shown various other really nice Devon bits.
What a smashing couple they are who run the place, Stan was really helpfull
& showed me around a Karmman Gypsy he's restoring, well worth visiting his stand if your going
to Bus freeze..

ended up getting mine off them at vanfest, apparently they are slightly bigger so units will need cutting, which are according to stan like egg shells to cut :shock:

yeah,just fitted my 'Stan' handles to my Dormobile.had to rout the handle apertures out to get them to fit.the wood was fine though. just made up an mdf template to sit above the original hole then whizzed around it. the hardest bit is getting the template correct.

I find it strange when someone makes a replica in a different size. Why?

I made new doors so didn't compare, just made the aperture to the size req'd for the handle I had in my hand. (i.e. replacement from Stan).

Talking to Stan recently, he's sourcing Devon Table legs. apparently there's different ones for one leg / four leg tables. He's trying to source the correct foot so it's as original looking as possible.


Any feedback to Stan if products are not correct will only help him source and supply what the scene wants. He's a canny lad, he won't be offended. (famous last words. )
