Just wondering if any one runs front disks but no servo? I almost have all i need to fit the 944 calipers, but have no servo as yet, just wondering if i should fit one at the same time, or can it wait.

Thanks

Mark

Neither my 71 or 72 have a servo. I did have a 78 with a servo and it made a difference!

ok cool, so its not esential then.

I will fit one, just not at the same time as the disks!

I still need porsche wheels :(

The main thing to think about is the Master Cylinder, I have no servo with my CSP's and they stop great, but I did make sure the mc WAS FOR A NON servo bus. With the porka breaks you should be fine without a servo, just make sure you use a non servo MC (about £40 from GSF).

errm let me get this straight, I need to fit a master cilinder designed for use with disks but no servo, is that right?

as at the moment I will have a master cilinder designed for drums?

Thanks

Mark

some of the early bays had single circuit mc's like the splits, with a residual pressure check valve in the line, these mc's need the brake shoe return spring to overcome the mc check valve and push the fluid back, if you run one of these on discs your pads will rub all the time, with or without servo. Dual circuit mc's are different. Then its down to pedal effort. If you want the missis to drive you need a servo, or a smaller mc. And maybe a servo.

Yes

with my porsche brakes im going to have the servo fitted aswell

my mate found out that the new type 2 uses a servo but costs a bomb to buy but found out that the polo uses same sort of thing but alot cheaper

so thats what he is going to fit on mine

be carefull with this, dependant on the year of your van, it may not fit as the pedal assembly changed.

hence why i need to fit a remote servo on mine.

yes thats right, you will need to change the servo, from what i gather the new servo will alow the fluid to release back in to the system, so that the pads move away from the disk, when you release the foot brake.
