ok so who remembers the first time they drove a bay ?

good or bad experience ?

First "car" I drove after passing my test was collecting my 78 Devon from Chard and driving it back to Wells. Loved it! And never looked back (until I got an early lol)!
(Well a crossover at least! Pmsl)

Bad...standard ride height and drums, had a smile on my face when on a straight road then went round an island and about shit myself!!, about went into the back of a bus because of the brakes! only 20 then and been hooked ever since, since then it has been good!

 The first time I drove one down in Bournemouth, I stalled it, could not find the gears, found it slow.........but could not get the smile off my face...I was hooked 8) 8)

I came to this malarky late in life, just last April. Had a test drive down a country road and nearly filled my pants when I hit a bend. As with everybody else, the smile stuck on my faces for days. :D

I learnt how to drive my parents Viking when I was 16. Then, when I had passed my test I was allowed to borrow it for surf trips to North Devon (when I was good)!

Mmm....

Drove a Bay for the first time and it was a LHD, all the way from Bristol to Northants on a realy windy day, Sun was shining I loved it.
But when the Lorries boomed past me....Nar I shat meself!!!!! I was all over the place and I didnt give a sh!t!!!!!
Good times. 8)

First time I drove mine on the road, it was on the way to the MOT station. I'd guess I was 18 at the time. It had no windscreen as I'd managed to break it earlier that morning.

I remember it being quite draughty.

my first time was last september after wanting one for 10years, couldn't get the gears brakes were shit steering was a nightmare (no power steering) it just wouldn't go were i wanted it to, cornered like a ship, then the engine went up in smoke and that was it i hated it with all my heart, but seeing it sat there all black and sooty i knew i had to give it a second chance and see my dream through. so i did and now i'm so glad i did, i love driving it the gears are so much better the new engine is a dream, and know i m used to its querckyness i love to bits and would never part with it (my kids would kill me )

My first time was a borrowed microbus in 1973. It was only a couple of months old.
Bought a camper a few months later.
Still got it.

I too have come into this camper passion late in my life. Only owning a bay for just over a year now.
I Drove it back from Bristol, couldn't get the radio to work till about 10miles from home, which was fine, because i was Shatting myself thinking the engine was about to explode for the most part of the journey, being used to much quieter water cooled engines.
I smiled from journey start, to journeys end, giving passers by a smile to, and to top it off when i finally mustered up the courage to get the radio working, as i cranked up the volume for the very 1st time, a tune played from start to finish without a DJ interruption....and that song was 'without you' sung by Usher! A priceless moment i will never ever forget!
Thats now mine and Olives special song....
