So i was excited about these until i see that you need to fit late brakes, quite a major bit of info been missing from this thread.

It was in the original picture in the initial post........................but it is in French! :D

I've been researching options for discs and come up with : all width changes per side

Wagenswest - 5/205 increase track by an additional 6mm

http://www.wagenswest.com/partstore/index.php/disk-brakes/1968-79-front-disk-brakes/71-79-bustangs.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Stock with Buttys adapters

+5mm Disc, +15mm adapter

Red 9 - No change

http://www.red9design.com/wheeladaptors.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You will need to add the 10mm that the spindles increase by.

Pascal has spent a long time & a lot of € developing these so it made sense to tool up for the majority of busses out there. It is a set back but I'd rather have an unwelded spindle & leave my ball joints where VW intended. :D

Yes you will need to change things as Ben suggests above.

Maybe not as great as it first seemed then?!
Could end up costing a whole lot more with all the alterations, unless you are in the trade and can do it yourself.
Bummer...

Transporterhaus it could be then...

Hello Chaps, it's been good to read through this one as I have thought about lowering my panel this winter, so all this to & fro has been a blessing to read..... I think that it will have to be EZ Rider coil-overs from Red9 and keep it all the same and save a wedge to boot.... as they only come in at £415 plus postage at £20

Im in the same boat,Gutted to see these are for dics they looked perfect for a while so now thinking about Transporterhaus but they are more of a drop than I wanted as I want to run with stock sized tyres.
I have just put my van up to standard hight and its too tall to get in the garage! I have adjusted garage door to touch the frame so cant go any hire without changing the door. Dont want to deflate the tyres each time.

Yeah bit gutted myself now thought these would be a good solution!
Think I'm gonna go for the transporterhaus dropped spindles now with the gaz shocks.
Does any one else do the dropped spindles or are transporterhaus ones the best?
What's the best way to lower the rear?

Don't know much about these anyone got these fitted? What's the ride quality like?

I've just spent 5 mins costing this and if you fit it all yourself your looking at about £1000 with all new parts.

spindles £525
calipers £215 pair
disc n pads £91
backing plates £33 pair
flexi hose £20.50 pair
ball joints £70 for 4
wheel adaptors £80 pair

total £971.50

If you dont have a press then ball joint fitting is going to cost or if they are ok the no cost.

They look like a nice spindle and the right way of doing it, but on the other hand welded spindles have never failed as far as i know.

As Darius has pointed out I still think this is good value for money as you can upgrade to discs at the same time and when most of the after market disc kits are nearly a £1000, you get dropped spindles and disc brakes for the same price, I'm struggling to see what the issue is, I also think that if you shop around you will get some if the bits for cheaper than listed.

We are looking at fitting these to the panel van we brought from Canada but that wont be for a couple of months at the moment :)

Small five stud pattern. It goes against the very ethos of proper early bays. ;) :lol:
