As I'll be getting a sizeable pay rise at work soon I thought I'd treat myself to some dropped spindles. Been looking at those Transporterhaus flipped ball joint spindles, what are people opinions on them?

Will be combined with an OG beam with a Fosky adjuster and when I'm fitting the spindles I'll do that 'simple beam narrowing' which is posted on here.

I get em and think they`re great. Need to get some coilovers to go with em, and possibly / probably some low profiles on the front. Easy enough to do and good results. Don`t forget to modify the coilies and mark your eccentrics when it`s all apart.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,, Even I could do it ;) 8)

You'll need to fit the beam adjuster farther round than the instructions say with dropped spindles fitted otherwise you'll be bottoming out and have tyre issues......
I'll be interested to see the results of the narrowing though before I attempt to do mine. :)

The adjuster and beam are already fitted to the bus and I had the adjuster welded in further round anyway. I reckon it will be about christmas time once I've saved up abit   The narrowing looks easy enough tbh, think the trailing arms have to be shaved where the shock sits though to allow the shock further on.

What do you mean by "modify the coilies" Ozzie? I've got unmodified Bugpack coilies and T2D dropped spindles which could be better - hoping your answer could help...

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Nothing fantastic I`m afraid, the bottom sleeve needs a bit cut off to get on the stock mount. Why what`s your problem ?? That sounded a bit aggresive din`t it  Wasn`t meant to  Have you got a bit of rubbage or something ??? And what you running ??? ;)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,, Wasn`t growling,,,,,,,, Honest ! ;)

I presume you guys are "modding" the coilover because the spring of the coilover hits otherwise?
Remember these shocks are tapered and all you have to do is run them "upside down" and they will be fine, no need for mods, silly rabbits ;) 8)

Nah the sleeve through the bushes is too long for the mounting bolt

and what happens if you turn the coilover upside down? does it fit then? as im sure the sleeve lengths are different :msn4:

 quite possibly mate didn't think of that!!!! Sorry

Righty,

dropped spindles = 8) :D easy to fit very very happy with them would echo what all above have said

coilovers = i always thought i needed to take some material off the bottom mount, although i got the nut on ok.
guess who will be taking these off again =

Ive had my coilovers on the t2d dropped spindles for ages "upside down" and they run just fine, they are a sealed unit so it really doesnt matter what way they run 8) but of course for fitment it seems with the dropped spindles they need to be run upside down to correct the sleeve issue

Hi easy how low have you gone with your set up ? (floor to arch measurement),i know you put a small tub in but did you do any chassis notching for the track rods....Dave

This front set up has been run for best part of a couple of years now i think and no problems 8)

No chassis work on the front or at the back and nothing banga atall, just make sure your tyres are good and the shocks are new! I have 185 60 15s on the back with a 2 spline drop on adjustable plates. The front is a ball joint bean so it sits lower than a king n link but ive taken the bottom of the end plates off with a grinder to give it an extra cm  Front tyres are 175 55 15 8)

No bangs or bumps or scrapping the arches even under full load. I will take a measurement for you tomorrow if thats cool

Cheers easy that would be great if you could get me a measurement,
the photo of your van with the splittys behind looks well 8) and looks as if your van has quite a rake on it :D .
Ive lowered mine on the rear with horseshoe plates and one spline,so a tad lower than two splines but the front is now slightly high.I don't want to go really low may be inch and half and regain the extra two inch of the dropped spindles to free up a bit more movement.
Just curious as to how lower you have gone ,ive got 175/55/15s fitted as well :D Cheers....Dave

Transporterhaus spindles
perfect ride, using coilovers.Only drama is cornish potholes...with the low profiles theres a bit of wander when you hit one..easily corrected though and in no way scary.
Are t2d ones different then? I thought the principal was exactly the same

Been running Transporthaus drop spindles with coilovers and am very happy with them. :D Had a few rubbing issues to start with, but sorted with lower profile tyres.

Transporterhaus dropped spindles & 'modified' coilovers all the way for me, just about to build another bus and thats what will be on it (together with a narrowed beam, disc brakes etc etc)

T2D ones are now the same as the Transporterhaus ones I think you'll find, they were slightly different but think they have been changed to suit so its who has the best deal on

Fair enough, I'll keep my eye's peeled for whoever has the best offer then :D

Cheers for the reply. I don't mind the growling!

I'm sure mine are mounted fine, fitted by Autotechniks so I presume they did something like you say - they like a bit of engineering! It's rubbage I'm having trouble with, round roundabouts and over bumps. I've fitted some clip on bump stops round the shock shaft which has helped quite a lot, but I can't help thinking this is a bit of a bodge!

Running Bugpack coilovers, T2D dropped spindles, beam adjusters, 175/55R15 tyres.

The damping feels too soft - I think the Bugpack coilies are Beetle rears. Or maybe lower profile tyres? Hmmm.
