Could spell trouble for companies that make the parts and specialise in them.

I wouldn't be worried about receiving a letter out of the blue from the DVLA. This is all discussion at the moment and letters would have been cases raised by MOT testers in the cases of heavily modified vehicles which is normal.

Agreed :D

The DVLA couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery, this won't come to anything.

Once they've finished annoying the older vehicle owners they will move on to us, as for "It won't come to anything" I think it may do, as beurocrates love giving themselves pointless tasks and paperwork.

You'd think the DVLA would be busy
i. Finding uninsured drivers
ii. Dealing with foreign drivers not entitled to drive here
iii.Locating stolen vehicles and establishing the ID
iv.Finding road tax dodgers
v. Vehicles without MOTs
vi.Dealing with foreign vehicles used here over the prescribed time without apply for tax and MOT

We had one bloke driving for us and it took them two years to figure out he only had a Gambian tractor licence

well at least this article shouldn't concern us too much...

I'm sure we have all seen buses which are obviously newer than their plates suggest - just to get free road tax.

However, not a worry to EB owners, is the fact that pre-1960 cars do not need an MOT.

I have seen quite a few cars which on paper are 1956 Ford Pops & the like & thus do not need an MOT.
In reality there is very little original content at all. e.g. Greatly modified chassis, Jag IRS, Fibreglass hot rod body, V8 engine, sometimes no mudguards at all. No MOT needed.

I'm not against mods or customising vehicles but I think standards need to be maintained for the safety of the general public. Perhaps this is what the concerns are about.

PS my 1959 Frogeye does not need an MOT. According to the insurers - if I tell them it's OK then it's OK. I think this is wrong. I think a few court test cases, post accident, will need to be seen. (Though not mine I hope!).

Rambling Phil.
