evening all

my generator light is staying so i am guessing my dynamo is not working, how can i check this and what are the first things to do to fix this.

then if they don't work whats the best way to fix the dynamp

Put a volt meter across it and with a few revs should read between 13/14 volts , check the brushes aren't worn down ( look like 2 tiny dominos in the dynamo body under the black cover if u still have one fitted ) check that all connections are clean and tight including the regulator is earthed to the body and that is nice and clean. After I ended up buying a new regulator for the exact same problem all it was, was down to a crappy earth . If its been stood for a long time it may need re polarizing . Do a search for rob and Dave on google ( vw resource ) there's a whole section to do with dynamos :)
