I've recently imported this early bay from California. It's very solid and has had only very minor welding, battery tray and front floor and window screen panel. If you know anything about vw campers, these are the usual spots regardless of where they come from. Anyway, these have been done
Bob is a 1970 model and has had one owner from new, he become too old to drive so bob has sat in a field in sunny California for the last 10 years enjoying the sunshine.
He has a gearbox which is in great condition but no engine.
Bob has quite a few dings on him but is very solid indeed as you can see from the pictures, the rust underneath is just surface and will come straight off with a wire wheel. He did have a small ding in the front which my welder has pulled out, hence the small amount of primer.
The red you see on the side is red oxide primer, it's not rust, same goes for the inside and cargo area
I would love to finish bob off but I don't have the time, it's going to be slightly more work than I first thought so he needs a good home, he will make a great project, just needs painting etc
I removed the front screen as it was badly cracked but these a very cheap to buy, same goes for the front seats.
I haven't registered him yet but I have the title document and the letter from the HMRC stating that the duty has been paid so he is all ready to go.....once you get an mot of course
Please contact me if you would like anymore information He also has nearly new tyres, they have only covered a few hundred miles
