Hi all

There is a black knob under the drivers seat (LHD) to the right, with the seat out it has a cable attached to it but neither does it twist nor pull out, whats it for?

There is a handle to the right of the centre air duct in the cab, I guess this opens the fresh air vents?

So what does the 3 heater control sliders do on an early bay? The last one I had was a type 4 late bay so slightly different.

Thats it for now

Ah knew there was something else.........the slider inner door handle, the locking plastic tab dont seem to be doing anything, I cant unlock from the inside, altho its a westy and the sink/fridge unit is in the way!

The tab is like a deadlock, it doesnt do anything other than stop the door from being accidently opened from the inside, its wise to have this horizontal (locked) while your moving.

From the outside there are two actions. 1. When you pull the door shut by pulling the handle down and sliding the door closed. 2. Then while the door is closed pull the handle up to lock the door in tight, you'll see the door tighten in half an inch until the hinge is flush to the door panel.

I actually have two black knobs under the drivers seat, mounted on the wheel arch. Mine are all stuck as well. I think one of them is supposed to open and close a vent in the floor for warm air, just behind the back seats in the centre. Don't know what the second one does!

The black knob on the front wheel arch on mine, pulls out and pushes in.

This controls how much heat is diverted from the cab to the rear air vents.

Mine has 2 black knobs.
One is to open/close the vent in between the front seats which points back in to the van.
The other is the choke.

Thanks for that. I have twin weber carbs so that explains why the choke one isn't needed.

There was another thing, how do the cab quarter windows and the side quarter windows open? The black know twists but i dont wanna force the window open incase i break it :?:

It kinda pushes forward and down then push window out . I think :?

I'm presuming by cab windows you've got something like these shown below:

First up you want to turn the catch (anti-clockwise for RHS, clockwise for LHS), so the circular black part passes the release catch so to speak.

Once done you then want to pull the whole part in a sort of forwards/downwards motion as shown above.

Once the catch is completely clear of the frame simply push out (they may be quite stiff the seals are usually pretty good.

If your 1/4 lights have new seals they need a light thump to get them open or at least mine do.

id spray some plus gas on them to make sure there are not stuck, bit of wd40 on the rubber sections too, then try to open them.

Nice pics jabbo!

What can I say, I am an artist.

Good to see another man who swears by plus gas. Surely one of the best inventions ever!

That's quite a tool kit you got yourself there dude!

Hmmmmm.... your tool kit does tend to lend itself to lubrication and rubber (or likewise material) type emergencies
