So who here takes there bus down the 1/4?

I have a bug I am racing this year, but i am thinking of pulling the motor out and putting it in my panel next season.
I would like to get myself a Ultimate Street Bay sticker!!!

Anyone here part of USB?

steve two benders off here is.... sure there are plenty of other buses that could qualify from here, unfortunately not mine, one day

I can't be bothered with all the politics that goes with it.

I would rather party in my bus & have a few dust ups on the way home ;)

No poiltics? Why you say that Pete?

As Steve has said, just some Bay fans that enjoy 1/4 mile action in a legal enviroment, we still enjoy having fun/partying.......i think you might be getting confused with other clubs ;)

Just out of interest, how long would it take for a stock 1800 with big carbs to go down the strip? mid 20's?

Well I'm not part of USB, but I did take my EB down the 1/4 this last weekend.
The line up and wait...

-Nothing to special, duel port and polished 1600, took her out and figured why not, just for kicks and a laugh.

That's running with a full camper interior, and the ArcticAircooled Vw's club coffee cups that I had up for sale in the back :D

Does anyone else have #'s? Im curious what's what.

what engines and boxes are peeps running

ive got a 1914, 120 cam,040 heads, weber 40s

running a 6 rib 091 box (currently stuck in 4th!!!!!!)
hoping to get it rebuilt very soon

1776cc, Engle 140 cam, Worked 044 Heads, MSD, Weber 44's

On a Cogbox rebuilt 091 6 ribbed box

My van runs a 2007cc, Engle 100, flowed stock heads, 1.25 ratio rockers. Twin 40 Webers with 28mm chokes.

I have a hybrid T25/late bay gearbox. It is built to go up hills mile after mile, not 1/4 of a mile at a time.

A peaky engine & box can be hard work to drive for a long distance.

Mine did the trip to Plymfest which is 180 miles on half a tank of gas. It all depends on what you want from your bus.

Mine is getting a new stock 1600cc motor in the next few weeks before it is handed over to its new owner :(

Sorry to hear your selling your bus dude,

I agree about the peaky comment hence why running an 091 box works well, 3 gears for the strip, which has propelled me to my P.b. ;) and then a great 4th for the motorways. Everyone keeps telling me a 140cam is too lairy for a 1776cc in a bus which may be true, but once it's out on the motorway it just purrs along :)

Mine will pull from 35mph in 4th gear.

Someone offered good money for the bus, they caught me on the hop & struck a deal before I really had chance to think about it. Time will tell if I made the right choice.

Hopefully I will be in the big bad Syncro at Bug Jam.

I quite fancy a Brazilia bay made to look early at some point. I am keeping the 2007 & am still collecting EFI & turbo parts... Maybe that will get a kicking on the strip.

Pretty sure mine are standard 091 ratio's was just a rebuild, strengthen and had a super diff fitted when i had mine rebuilt, didn't mess with the ratio's at all!
