I am currently re-jetting my weber 34 ICT's and have been informed by an old school mechanic that the balance pipe and servo feed that is currently running from my manifolds are not needed as i can add a stand alone 12v electric vacuum pump wich will allow no drilling and tapping of the manifolds, this will then allow the engine to run better.

Has anyone heard of this or tried this he did say that the saab 9-3 or 9-5 vaacum pump is what he used and he said it worked like a dream on his old bus.

Yes you can make an electric pump system work. Reliability wise, it is adding another component that can fail.

There is no reason why a normal servo set up would affect the running of your engine.

If the servo really is causing a problem, then there is either an air leak or the one way valve or servo are faulty.

Much easier to fix the problem IMO. If the problem lays with the valve or servo itself it will need fixing anyway, even if you change to an electric pump.
