Hi All,
After spending about the last 10 days messing around with ignition timing we think my running issues are down to exhaust valve on no.3 cylinder that we couldn't get enough clearance on. Hopes were to pull out end of summer but looks like it'll be happening much sooner!
I got my bus 18mths back. She was a Cali import I bought from a local vw garage. According to licence plate sticker she hadn't been on the road since 2008. So engine was always a bit of an unknown.
Mechanic said block would need opening up so what other things would people be looking to do on an engine while its out and going through surgery like this? I know my mechanic will highlight anything that he see's but be good to have other people's opinions. It's just a stock 1600 tp. Ultimately we want reliability so we can start to get further afield and hit the shows.
