engine bay insulation

my other half has been stripping out and painting the engine bay, i presume the insulation that sits behind these panels are for sound proofing?

what is already there looks like fibre glass,in plastic so not every fire proof :?
what do you lot use?and is it fire proof? or dont you bother replacing it?

The insulation is for sound and heat - without it you will hear the difference and the rear will get hot - ok in the uk maybe but not nice on a hot day :lol:
