Keeps the engine nice and cosy in the winter....

Be interested in the response/what you chose to use instead, as we don't have anything there at all, but I quite fancy putting something there to help reduce the noise.

I've used this to skin the inside of my other van

its cheaper, I can still hear the engine, but only through the heater or the window. the only reason its not on the bay is I havnt fixed the window seals yet.

Interested to hear where you have put it - have you literally covered all the internal panels (behind the card), under the rear seat etc etc?

i used the camping mats from Lidl all over the van, they have a foil backing and are about 1/3 of an inch thick and fire/flame proof too. Excellent sound deadening and insulation. Best of all they were £3 per roll of 2m by 0.75m.

Are any of these prone to attract moisture and therefore rust your bus from the inside out?, I want to insulate the engine bay area etc as I think Hank is quite noisy but was worried about causing another problem by sticking insulation on, any advice on this?

Angus, have covered all except the floor, didnt want a water trap and the floor is wellinsulated with ply sheet and rubber backed carpet anyway, and the front panel which was too difficult to get to.

Graham, for thermal insulation have 1 inch thick polysteyrene, again from wickes sprung into the roof, and filled the volumes behind the cards with layers of bubble wrap. Slept over one night during xmas on the coast, 2 adults, 2 kids, 3 dogs, the windows were running but no dampness anywhere else, The van is out in the weather all the time there is no sign of any moisture around the floor edges where condensation would run down to.

(but I could do with a solution for green moss in the felt(?) of the sliding window channels)

i spent a forture trying to keep noise down.using 2mm stick on sound profing,i stuck it to the rear load area and up the sides, before i had this i had bubble wrap stuck above engine then a quilt and carpet underlay(in the van not in the actual engine bay)this worked but was about 10"thick and took up loads a room, ive got some pics of what ive done now i think, il dig em out and poost em up.its beter than nothing but still loud if going over 50

Graham if your worried about moisture/damp use rechargeable dehumidifier, or the oven bake canisters......

the camping mats i use are fully waterproofed, most are as normal use is on the bottom of a wet tent ground sheet. Anything with a 'close cell' foam will resist/stop moisture and should be good.
