Engine lid/ number plate light

Gday,

Can some clear up the below question for me?

I need to purchase another Engine lid/ number plate light for my 71 bay and I've always thought/known that the early bay light is a different size to the late bays. Someone told me today that you can still buy new lights but I thought this wasn't possible......!!!!!

Can new be bought or is it a searching exercise for a good second hand one????

I bought a new glass for the light, the fitted the bulb holder to it.

It wasn't easy as they are heat melted into the glass (plastic) I did manage to do it though...

VW Heritage I got it from. I will try to get a pic for you later.

Thanks a pic would be great, If I could seperate the the two I could replace the glass then great......

Its easy to snap the old one off, its getting the new one on is the trick!
