as above 1700 engine is almost back in (new flywheel and oil seals) every things in line but it needs to push in about 1 inch.. spent over an hour am i missing somthing?

starter motor is off
flywheel is the same
can turn the pully arrrarrrahhhh

help please

Have you had the clutch off if so did you use a aligning tool for the friction plate

The angle of engine to van may be out (if the van is on axle stands and the engine is flat on a jack). I struggled with this when putting my engine back in.

Have you changed the output shaft on the gearbox ?
to mate a type 4 motor to a 1600 box the output shaft has to be shortened 20mm (approx)

Have you took the flywheel locking tool off? I've left it on before

Spin the top pulley a little to see if the alignment is a touch off
