after having probs with my clutch, me and robins ;) , have removed engine, done fan flaps, what a baskett that was, brought all new engine seals air hoses, trying to do it all right to get the engine bay sealed, on placing the engine back in we seem to have quiet a gap at the front of the engine???, would it be poss i have beetle tin ware?? is there a difference, i know i have a later twin port engine weather that make a difference

The tin which goes up aginst the fire wall end is different bugs to buses.

Bus tin has much squarer upper corners, about the same shape as the aperture above the gearbox.

Yours is probably the same as mine, i have a AE bug engine in mine. I am in the process of trying to sort my tinware too - just not quite got around to it yet. Mine fits fine around the fan belt pulley/bumper area, it's the flywheel end thats wrong. I too need flaps in mine also........

I can do pics if you like........

Cheers!

Alistair

There was someone on here selling gearbox end tinware adaptor plates which you weld onto beetle style ones.Or you could make some to fill the gap with a bit of cutting and welding

Probably just easier to ring round the breakers or go digging through the boxes of rusty crap at the next show rather than faffing about trying to modify tinwear.

67 Bay steve did produce the panel to adapt a bug tin to bay and a very well made bit of kit it was too, dont believe hes gonna make anymore as the time and energy to produce it made him cock all money, the finnished article depended on your own welding skills but it can look factory give him a call he may have one or two left......

Pity steve(67 bay) isnt doing the tinware extensions. I used one on mine a couple of years ago
quality peice of metal work!

If steve (67 bay) has none left you could try using the top section of a single port
front tin as these are readily available at shows (compared to the TP anyway) and 'grafting'
it on to the TP beetle tin. I know it works with a genuine tin not sure about repro
as never used them.

if you hold out for a genuine piece expect to pay dear last peice i saw was perforated
and sold for £75!
