Once the engine has been re-built to a 1776 Im changing the exhaust but got a few questions;

Whats the difference between large / small flange? Which one will I need?

Not sure on the back box either want a fairly large box but dont want it to loud, think a mondo will be too large so was thinking of maybe a phat boy? what you think? Wanted something a bit larger that a quiet pack or glass pack. Does the size of the box relate to how loud?

Oh and also my budget it very tight so just looking at metal systems rather than stainless etc around £100. and am currently running repro heat exchangers which I want to keep.

Cheers

I know exactly the problem you have. There really isnt much info out there to help one decide is there?

I went through the same process, wanting performance, keep the heat exchangers, not too much noise etc. Eventually I built my own mufflers - if you interested its on the last page of my thread http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1204&start=40" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Because your engine is a 1776 (rather than a 2 liter+) you have another option, one i would use if mine was a 1776.

Use a good quality stock exhaust for a 1600 beetle and then fit two transporter tail pipes. II have used this method in the past and it works a treat. :)
