Ive got through 3 senders in the past 4 years. The tube type for my 71 crossover. Put new sender in last year and worked fine. Stored the vehicle over winter, then sender showed quarter full even on a full tank. Tested earth and gauge and all good. Stripped the outer tube from the unit and put back into the tank and it still showed quarter full. Moved the float up by hand and the gauge moved up to full. So the float wasn't getting stuck on the tube.
Placed the float in water and it floated. Placed it in petrol and it sank!! The float seems to have absorbed the fuel over time and became too heavy to float. I've drilled several cavities into it and sealed the ends with a soldering gun, to trap air. It now floats, but for how long.
I'm going to feed back to GSF where I got the last unit, but I've purchased from heritage too with the same problems. Anyone else experienced this?
