My bay has got a big hole in the roof so i bought a tin top roof.

Anyway, I've got a tin top roof for it and was wondering if anyone has fitted one and which is the best way to go about it.....i'm planning on drilling the spots around the gutter line and transferring the 'skin'. Any ideas?

You should read Tofufi's resto thread - he did it the hard way by cutting through the pillars etc - I'm sure he could offer you some words of advice!

;)

I really can't offer much advice - I'd seen this thread already but not thought of owt worth posting ;)

I would advise you to make sure the inner box sections around your roof are OK.

If they are, then drilling the spot welds and plug welding the new roof on is a good way to do it. It will probably be neater and require less finishing than welding just the centre section in place.
Think of distoration from the heat too.

I'll be doing a tintop roof from a hightop this summer, a friend of mine is roping me into helping with his '72. We will be attempting to cut the section rather than use the whole roof because his gutters are good. If it were me, all things being equal(ly rusty) I'd do it from the gutters myself ;)
