Hi.
At some point this year I want to go to a disc brake setup on my early bay.
What do I need to keep my eyes out for parts wise to do this on wide 5 wheels? On a budget, so can't be buying expensive kits etc.

Any advise gratefully received. :)

it depends on your budget, but I don't think there is a cheap option, especially if you want to stay wide 5. the cheapest method I found was to fit Porsche 944 single pots, but cheaper still would be to go late bay. but then you would be going 5x112!

keep an eye out for the sales ;)

Thanks. I'm in no rush as I've just rebuilt the drums to get me through this summer, just wondered if there is a shopping list of bits I need to acquire, or if the is a thread someone knows of that I can take a look at...

keep an eye out for a late bay servo, and an inlet manifold with a servo outlet pipe if you haven't got one, a servo is a must, if you want to get the most out of the disks, also check if your beam has a servo bracket on it, some do, but some will need one added.

for the disks, I think you will need to buy a complete kit.

to stay 5/205 you will need to buy a kit, or do the cheap way of getting it done to 5/112 and then run adapters? This will widen the track considerably though!

EDIT**** won't be a problem if running stock wheels but will with most aftermarket alloys.

I run late bay spindles/disks and adapters on my '68 and they work great. This isn't a servo set up, but is still a nice, lower maintenance option :)

The adapters do add a bit of track, but this is offset by the spindles slightly narrowing track, so overall it isn't too much of an increase especially with stock offset wheels.

There's a good section in Uber Cool's thread where he updates to late bay disks http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11772&start=40" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
