Hi guys,

I'm after some advice about laying a ply floor in my bus, I'm hoping it can be a b&q job for all the materials needed, what thickness of ply would you use and how would you secure it!?

The thought of drilling holes into the floor scares me a little!! Also would you wax oil the floor first??

Cheers guys,
All advice greatly received!

Hi,
I used 6mm on mine but most people use 9mm I think as its a bit more stable.
You shouldn't need to fix it down ( you could run a couple of beads of mastic under it but would be a pig to remove should you ever need or want to change it) the units sit on top and anchor it down well.
Might be an idea to wax oil the underneath of the ply but I pva'd mine, I also put some foil laminate insulation under too.

You need 2 different thicknesses which is how the factory did it, the initial layer drops into the recessed piece of the floor to level it out and then the other piece fills the floor area, you can do it with an 8 x 4 sheet of each, using the off cut to go in the narrower piece at the back and then on the top layer glue the off cuts by the bulkhead. It's best to glue the 2 layers together, as mentioned there no need to fix it to the floor.

Hope that makes sense.
