Original seats had hair pads and strips of carpet felt on each side
I am redoing mine using VWH new hair pads (more like a rubberised coconut mat) and then 1cm thick fairly dense foam I got from a local upholsterers. New TMI covers fit like a glove with judicious use of a hair dryer!

Its pretty thin a few mm at most, i would guess at 2 mm.

I was looking at mine the other day, I didn't measure it but yeah a few mm...gives it that luxury feel!

Ideally i need to be exact ! only because i wanted to use some dynamat etc and then some foam for that luxury feel :lol:
