For Sale is Belle Our 1970 VW Early Bay Dormobile Camper She is Tax Exempt and has 12 months MOT Belle is currently a two berth camper with a full width Rock n Roll bed, but also has the option to add two roof bunks as she would have had originally. Canvas on the Dormobile poptop roof is original and in good condition
Belle was fitted two years ago with a new 1641cc engine from The Engine Shop, complete with twin 34 Dell Orto Carbs. The engine has done approx 3000 miles since fitting. She also has a stainless steel Phat Boy exhaust.
An extensive structural restoration was completed 2 years ago, including new outriggers and jacking points all round. repairs to chassis rails, new crossmemembers and top hat sections, new original wheel arches and Wolfsburg West front wheelarch tubs, new cab floor section and inner and outer sills on both sides. She is a VERY solid van.
Belle has also had an electrical refit, including new ignition, headlight and rear light wiring, along with a new leisure battery and invertor. An LED step light adds a bit of bling. She comes fitted with 15" Radar alloy wheels with "as new" tyres. She also has a two bow roof rack from Karmann Konnection, custom cut to fit. A Just Kampers cover will also be included in the sale.
Belle was fitted with a new KI Westy interior from Kustom Interiors approximately 3 years ago complete with table (not shown in the pictures). New Door cards will also be included. Belle comes with extensive history, including the first bill of sale, original service booklets, various MOT certificates, tax discs and reciepts for work done and parts bought. A full photographic record of the latest rest is also included A spare clutch and throttle cable will be included in the sale, as will a brand new starter motor from Retrodubs (the current one is, I believe, the original, and is getting a bit sticky and sometimes takes a couple of attempts to start). As Ive already mentioned, Belle is a very solid van and is mechanically sound.
She does have the usual rust spots coming through in the bodywork you would expect from a 44 year old vehicle and would benefit from a new paint job (something we had been planning to do).
