Our much loved and cherished VW Camper (Jessica) is very reluctantly up for sale due to a new project and impending house purchase. We have owned Jessica for many years during which time we have enjoyed numerous holidays and trips in her. During our ownership we have undertaken a large amount of work to keep her on the road, including the following.

• Engine rebuild by Gary Angell Racing with 1641 cylinders, heads and twin carbs.
• Renovation of and new canvas on the pop top by Dormobile in Hampshire
• Substantial new panels fitted around the bottom 8” of the van, including jacking points, outriggers, cab arches, rear corners, battery trays and sills
• Handmade interior with full width rock and roll bed electric hook up, sink, cool box gas hob and oven.
• Fitting BMW Recaro front seats on adjustable mounts
• Front beam replace with powder coated beam fitted with late (post ’71) brake callipers (to replace the eye wateringly expensive one year only callipers).
• Rear brakes overhauled in 2011
• Replacement starter motor fitted in 2011
• Subtle lowering all round (adjuster fitted to front beam)
• Additional multi sound “horn” and PA added

The camper is sold with a pair of excellent condition front doors with opening quarter lights (welding of lower panels and arches to match fit tog these doors), a single bunk frame for fitting in the roof and spare matching fabric for the interior.

The are some bits that need to be done to make this a really tidy camper.

• The engine lid needs replacing
• Gutters need a little attention, we have rubbed them back and painted them to minimises further damage
• Rust on front lower panel at LHS corner
• Rust inside on rear nearside on roof
• Both batteries are on the way out
• Paint, we never got round to having it smoothed out and painted properly after the welding work but it has been protected by our own hand work, with a few cans of paint and A LOT of masking tape.

Whilst we had intended to complete the work on the camper this has not been possible and we very grudgingly now have to pass the van on to someone else who hopefully will have as much enjoyment as us using Jessica.

The camper has an MOT due end of April 2012 (it will be renewed before sale) it is registered an historic vehicle and is therefore Road Tax Exempt.

A genuine van that has the worst of it done, ready to go if you want to just get using it or a simple project to finish what we started.
