After over a year of looking ive finally found one. Loads of false leads and wrong types later i found one under my nose as is usually the case. Cheap as well.

So its off to the powder coaters then hopefully fitted for the plymfest show next weekend. The trailer will finally get a airing.
Marcher will you please collect your piece of crap towbar from my garage asap as i no longer need it  Cheers.

Dude any chance of more detailed pictures and measurments, would like to get a one of these made.

Have been trying to find one for about 2 years, loads of bars but no end brackets, I guess people leave them on thinking that all vans has the brackets.

Yeah i know what you mean, ive been offered loads without the mounts.
I will get more detailed photos when i get a moment, im sick of looking at it for the moment. It was cheap but ive had to pester the bloke who had it for about 5 months and yesterday i pinned him down and he told me to just take it and send him the money. It was quite cheap compared to some ive been offered but i had to remove it and then re mount his bumper with my bumper hangers. It must have been on the bus for 40 years because it was abitch to get off. Spent 4 hours yesterday removing 6 bolts and the same again today removing the last 2? The last one i had to grind off with a dremal and about 15 of those small cutting discs as nothing else would fit in the confined space. Nightmare.

Im not sure if this is a westy towbar or not but i think its a peka.

Ive not seen any mate.......... ive seen plenty listed then when you get photos they are all wrong. Where have you seen them for sale.
Dont know if its a westy one, maybe Ron can tell me as hes got one. Im not fussed now to be honest, it fits right and is neat and tidy.

Defo a westy tow bar, usual a plate pop riveted one some where telling you the safe towing limits, may have been take off but look for the two rivet holes.

I dought one from a guy up north about 12 months ago no photo on ebay told me it had come off a 1970 bay, so thought I should be ok, turns out it was a later bar with the bumper mounts cut off, so can mount the bar but not the bumper. Live and learn.

Ive seen a couple of different westy ones but im sure the one ive got is a Peka. I was crawling under a Fire Bus in Holland a few weeks ago checking his out and thats when i realized that the guy who stores his bus next to mine had a identical one on his bus (minus the plate).

I've bought the same:

Can't separate the brackets from the bar, and there are a couple of cross sections to support the swan neck. That one is suited to tow 1200kg, and I think the other model is ok for 800kg or something close, but is from westfalia too I believe...

Looking very good btw, dubberdaz. Sorry to hijack the thread but does anyone know if you can buy the id plates new? repro maybe...

It is a westy bar I have seen these fitted to several vans, westsfalia seem to have made different types for early and late bays, my late bar is not like any of the others I have seen but is defiantly westy as it still has the ID tag.

That not the right one m8   i dont think it will fit?? thinking it's from a....

Late bay??
beetle ??
Type 3??
Type 25??

In fact it will deffo fit my LDV Luton

Great find m8, well done. I'll call of the dogs :!: :!: :!:

Clyde

This is the same as the one on my bus, mine is german made but no westy tag. I don't care if it is a westy one or not but it works great. I have towed a trailer and an Eriba Puck.

Your trailer will be happy now!
