Hi , I had a new standard front beam fitted and then immediately I fitting new wheels and tyres and now after just 2000 miles I’ve had to change both fronts due to negative camber (both inside edges no tread). I have never had to change this before (but only owned 3 yrs) but bought a gauge (granted it was cheap) and have adjusted to the attached pics .( both start and end reading where the same for both sides ) everyone’s thought on the amount of adjustment ? I ended up turning the eccentric about 1/3 of a rotation.

Might be right and might be wrong but I’ve only ever set my camber to max and my toe in for the wheel alignment is one or two mill but no more.

thanks for the reply , so you set it at max positive camber and you’ve had no premature wear on the outer tyre edge. If so I might have look in the morning to see what the max camber I can get and see how shy I am of that , I don’t think I will be far off (fingers crossed) , It’s got to be better than it was.

It’s so long ago that I messed with this stuff. But I remember the concentric nut and I’d marked it and I can’t remember if the mark had to be towards the outside of the vehicle, I’m pretty sure it was. When I had it apart, both the concentric thingys had marks in them that you could see fairly easily while the6 were in your hand, I think it may have been in the flats . I marked mine up with some tippex so I could see it easily and I’m pretty sure both were pointed to the outside of the vehicle towards the wheels but please check else where if you can.

I should have paid more attention to where the marks ended up instead of just concentrating on the gauge bubble but I think the near l/h side will now be pointing out at 90 degree to vehicle with the amount of adjustment I gave from its starting point which was pointing inward.
 
Gary, you had the opposite problem to what I have (and still do) I changed to an adjustable beam to lower her front modestly and then had the geometry set up by someone I ‘trusted’ and fitted new wheels and tyres at the same time. Over the next 1,500 miles miles it scrubbed off the outer edges of the fronts I had another person that I ‘trusted’ re adjust her and fit two new tyres, 2,500 miles later it has done it again albeit not quite as bad. I put a post up (link below) as I found lowering had created positive camber even with the adjusters set to the minimum positive we could achieve. I was referred to Mark at Auto Techniks in Banstead, Surrey - had a great conversation with him and he has all the old school Dunlop gauges and equipment to do a full geometry set up for me, she goes in on Monday and feel sure he will get to the bottom of it for us. Hope he does because my wife and daughter are planning to set off on Thursday to do the north coast 500!

Thanks for the info ,So lowering had caused too much positive camber , I’m hoping with mine being a Just campers standard beam I might not be far off with what I have now but without taking it to a specialist I’m only going to find out when I give it a run out. I’m just going to check inner/outer tread depths every 500 miles or so to see if it’s still out . I probably won’t know now until next year as I’m away working next week and won’t be back until Christmas .
 
Do you have a spirit level? just place it top to bottom on the tyre and you will get a good indication, move it till the bubble is level and see the gap as it should have something like 2mm at the top.

Just a thought but shouldn’t the van be on its wheels to check the camber? Looks like it’s on stands in the pic?
 
Thanks for replies. I’ll try and get a measurement with the wheels on when I get home in December but the tyres were worn almost to the cords on the extreme inner edge so with the adjustment I’ve given I’ve done it’s got to have improved the situation.
