Hi all.

Well the chassis and body panels are to be welded this week as the full rebuild continues.

The 1.6 Sp has been rebuilt and am now looking at lowering the front. Have a limited budget as found more hidden bad repairs and filler than we first thought, so now my plan to get a red 9 design kit has had to be scapped.

Am looking at trying to get some shocks for the front as mine are shot and looking at cutting and rewelding the beam to get the drop.

Any advice as to what to go for shockers wise?

Thanks in advance.

Wait to buy the shocks till you have lowewred the vehicle. You really need to lower the vehicle and then with all the weight in the vehicle (Inc engine and interior etc) take the shocks off, roll the vehcile forward and back till the vehcile settles and then measure the distance between the shock bolt hole centre top and bottom. This gives you a centre measurement which you want to have in the centre of the travel of the shock.

Hope this makes sense,

I run KYB GR2's on my van which are a great comfy shock but firm enough to feel controlled and doesn't wallow.

Thanks Mark, Thanks Alex.

Plenty to think about and hopefully it can be as painless as possible!

If you are turning the stock beam with current ball joints you don't want to lower more than 3 inches, and with that, standard shocks should suffice .

Please take the thread further in Technical if you need to explore further. :D

Thanks.
