Cannot imagine it makes any difference what so ever.. If it was that easy every vehicle would have one fitted. Its probably exactly the same as those bags of lead people sell on eBay to convert unleaded fuel to leaded... It doesn't work like that.

You'd be better off setting fire to the money. It'd keep you warm and waste less of your time. :)
 
They only work when used alongside magic beans. I have some unused ones spare if you need any. Not cheap though ....

Thought these engines ran on unleaded anyway and don't actually need any conversion?

That's indeed correct :) Although there's some debate about cylinder heads (supposedly softer valve seats) made before 1967, I certainly wouldn't be worrying about it on any VW. The other claims are nonsense too, lining up your fuel particles and whatnot.
