Fuel filter

Hi all, first time out in the van for 3 months today all good apart from the fuel filter looked to be only a third full, stopped for an hour and after driving again same again third full!, never really noticed how much in it before, so not sure if its about right, also have probs when hot running as keeps stalling when coming to a stop, not sure if this has anything to do with it, any info appreciated chaps

Its normal for the filter to not be full.
Wouldnt have thought it has anything to do with the cutting out though.

Stalling when slowing/stopping could be an air leak on the inlet side.

Sprayed wd40 all around the carb area with no change in sound, only does it when hot, thinking it could be evaporating before it gets in the carb

I had a leaky servo that caused my van to stall, have you looked at that?

Have you checked the idle jet isn't blocked?

Yep, checked the jet, only stalls when its running hot (more than 2 hours driving or hot atmosphere), cool days like today runs all day long no probs

Not checked the servo, will do in daylight

Just a thought,, have you checked your fuel pressure ?

Had it on a gas analyser to see whats happening?
May need a tune up.

This- I know it seems OTT, but gas analysers are brilliant for tuning carbs and spotting air leaks. Takes 100% of the faff out of tuning.
