So I'm in constant fear of breaking down!

I've checked behind the dash and there's two wires connected to the back of the fuel guage and they not loose.

So how do I get to the fuel tank sender to check there?

Sorry, I don't have a manual until payday.

Depends if you have a bulkhead or not , if you do drop the motor and remove the bulkhead, if you dont and your all bendy young and lythe you may get to it.

Before you lose a limb trying to get to the sender (unless you cut an access panel) check that the sender connector hasn't come apart. You should be able to find the connector tucked away in the front right hand side of the engine bay near the regulator. The wire from the sender pokes out the bottom of the firewall, goes into a single way connector before it heads towards the front of the bus.

Have fun
