Morning all - anyone know what fuse should be used for the wiper motor? Mine has a red at the moment but I'm not convinced it should be. I'm in a 1970 deluxe. Cheers

Interesting question, the US models use a 16 amp fuse and the non-USA models use an 8 amp fuse, but there are slight differences in the arrangement of the fuse box.

Have a look on this site and pick your model.

For once i am not going to slate Clarkson or say he's wrong, he is correct..

all depends on Bus and fuse box.. here you will have to do some investigation work..don't ask me why the different box has different ampre fuse coz i can not explain it, all i can say is the wiper motor must be slightly different..

if you have a 505B (number is on the face of the box at the top-- opposite end to relays) then originally should be 8 amp right through.

if you have a 505A then fuses 8 and 12 will be 16 ampre (fuse 8 is your wiper feed )

Thanks fellas...nice to see you both agreeing...only joking!

Looks like I'll need a16amp fuse as I have a US model....

Advice from chaps like yourselves is invaluable - cheers

the fuse box I have is 505A...it looks like I have some 16amps in the wrong place! What do you recommend? I could put the proper rated fuses in and see what happens?

You should always use the correct fuse for the application. A fuse is supposed to be a protection device. So if you have too large a fuse then potentially the wire becomes the weakest link and not the fuse. Fitting the correct fuse should have no effect unless you have a fault. My advice would be use the correct fuse at all times.
