gear change

Ive got a 71 US import Westy and my gear change is very sloppy and it jumps out of 3rd on deacceleration sometimes. Ive put a new plastic bush on the front rod under the stick and replaced the plate that goes under the stick mount, also replaced the coupling at the gearbox end. There seems to be a fair amount of movement where the gearstick ball and pin locate in the front rod , is that normal ,What else is there to do,any imput most welcome. Cheers Chris

:? funny you should mention jumping out of 3rd while coming down box while slowing for junctions etc , mine started doing this yesterday on the way to viva skeg vegas . only does it going down box and not on up changes , :?
