Gearbox nose cone

Gonna put a gearbox in my 70 van so bought the coupling linkage now is there a small rubber gromit thingy that goes on the nosecone? Where the shaft moves? Or am i thinking about a split/beetle? Cheers

Yes there is a small rubber "boot" or gator that goes on the end of the selector shaft. Replaced mine when I last had the box out as it had split.

bugger forgot about this, and now have fitted the box isit essential? if so il order one and fit cheers

Well it is a dust cover so you are at risk of getting crap eroding the assembly. Its a simple bit but I guess is there for a reason Sorry!
