Just a quick question.

Could I fit a later CU box (late 1.6 T1 box) into my 69 Westy WITHOUT changing belhousing -and is it a straight bolt in item?

I appreciate the studs and gearbox mount need spapping over as it would have originally come with the later mount, it's size and 'ears' Im worried about.

Many thanks

Matt

Yes, I've got a '72 box in my bus now.

Possibly not a lot other than slightly easier to get hold of, a little bit cheaper, and probably done less miles than my old CA box that whined like an unhappy wife and lost hypoy quicker than I could pour it in.

They are cheaper, have the right ratios in (for a stock 1.6 T1 engine) -there is no point chucking a 2L box in a 1.6 van as the engine doesn't have the power. Also, very importanty the spares (bearings, syncro's) are available for the later boxes but less to for the earlier boxes.

I'm having a stock box built with a taller 4th in for my stock Type 1 1.6 SP engine so want one that my gearbox builder can get spares for; it wouldn't make sense to strip down a gearbox and not replace worn parts

I just need a CU code gearbox now

Anyone got one?
