The guy took this pic of the external oil cooler, but does anyone know what the blue/silver thing is in the foreground?

My cali bus had something similar looking but not blue. Could be the silver round thing with screws is emissions and the other is an old oil can wedged in there. Pitty we cant see more of it.
Good answers chaps ;)

Blue thing oil bottle or similar? the silver is part of the high altitude adjuster most are decommissioned at the carb end......

Hiya street,

As a US member of EB (and one with a LOT of experience with the M-26 vapor recovery system) I can tell you, without any doubt whatsoever, that the blue object in the picture is definitely not any part of that system. Moreover, I use Chevron 30 weight in my engine and that bottle appears to be identical to the ones I use.

Araon is dead-on. That silver object is the altitude compensater portion of the Bus two part throttle positioner. If you could see the carburetor you would notice a bracket in front of the carburetor which is attached to the throttle arm. In turn that bracket is also attached to the altitude compensater pictured via a vacuum line. Again, in turn, the altitude compensater is also hooked via vacuum line to the intake manifold. This set-up works to slow the return of the throttle plate on deceleration . It was an emissions device which allowed for more air in the mix to completely burn those nasty little hydrocarbons.

Well done Bookwus, we now have the answer, and I for one am a little more knowledgeable ;)
