To It'll be finished in about a weeks time with a mild drop ( Wagenswest spindles ). Can't wait to get it back and get the interior back in and start enjoying it. :D

Lovely bus....I love the stance. Is that only the 2.5 drop spindles? No other mods? Does it scrub any?

What size tires you have on there? I love the look with the white walls! (Flaps or paint?)

Thanks, I like the subtle look rather than really on the ground but I might still bring the back down a spline. And yes, the only mod is the WW 2.5" drop spindles. I think the back may have sagged a little bit (unless it's just the heavy Devon interior). It generally drives really nice unless I hit a hump in the road too fast or hoof it on a round about. I could probably get round this with slightly lower profile tyres or stiffer front shocks, but I'm generally happy with how it is.

The tyres are 185/80/14 and the whitewalls are just flaps (which I'm not so keen on). They'll go when I change the tyres next (they were on a second hand set of tyres and wheels I bought).

I'd prefer thinner lines on my next set as I do like the look of whitewalls.

Well bit of an update, finally got the back down one spline which made the front stick up in the air a bit so we bought it down one notch on the beam adjusters which has it sitting nice and level(ish) now.

Not sure about the camber though :?

Also managed to find another missing part to the jigsaw puzzle. Couldn't find a cap to my water tank anywhere but discovered that a chromed cap for a mini rocker cover fits with a little trimming to the rubber.

This new height isn't without it's problems, mainly the tyre rubbing on the inner arch on bigger bumps and dips in the road. There is only a 5 cm gap between the tyre and the inner arch.

So should I ? Fit stiffer shocks (if so, which?)
Fit coilovers (ditto)
Bring it back up 1 notch on the adjusters (nose up)
Bring the back up 1 spline again (nose down)
Fit spring plates and fine tune the height.
Different tyres (don't really want to go down that road at the moment, want to keep og rolling radius).

It's also just had a reconditioned steering box fitted ( it's second ) and it is loads nicer to drive. This is the 4th steering box it's had since I got it (I've had it 6 years). The last one was a second hand one from a trader. It felt nice and tight on the bench but had a proper clonk once fitted. It did go through the MOT though which steering box no 2 (reconditioned one/ full of grease/fitted 2004) didn't.

Hope the present one lasts a good long time, well pleased with it so far. It was reconditioned by http://www.power-steering.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Sorry, no pics of steering box.

Handbrake is also working at last and apart from the unresolved rubbing problem  it's driving great.

On my former (L345 ;) ) bay I had 185/60R14 tires on the front wheels and stockers on the rears. Slight rake, but no rubbing. I had silver KYB Gr.2 shocks.

I loved this old bus of yours Airtime, one of my all time favourites 8) and the kind of subtle look I like. Super rare as well, how many 68 Amescadors do you see (none over here anyway)?
Not sure I'm ready for lower profile tyres yet though, going to try something with the shocks first.

Nice original looking bus now the works done.Good colour choice.Devon interia is nice.

hey banana...loving your ride mate!

mine used to originally be that exact colour combo....
i uncovered some of the original grey whilst scraping around inside the rear vents.... kind of makes me wanna take back to original!

interior is lovely too!!!

niiiice!

Thanks for saying nice stuff folks :D . Really pleased with the colour, it's made me a bit vain though, I seem to spend a dangerous amount of time checking myself out in the reflection in shop windows  . ( sure I'm not the only one  ).

did you sort the front rubbing problem in the end?!?

long and short of it is you need smaller tyres as the stockers are too donutty to fit a lowered van....
for what its worth...i am running 15" rims with 145 65 15s.... on the front (so smaller rolling radius) with tubbed arches and kyb gr2 shocks

on the rear i am running 15" rims with 185 65 15s (not sure of the difference in radius there) with stiffer kyb gas-a-just shocks and adjustable springplates.

rolling radius on the front isnt as important as rolling radius on the rear because it affects your gearing. the downside of a smaller radius on the front is you dont get accurate speedometer readings.... but just get someone to follow you and flash their lights at 30mph 40mph 50mph and 60mph.... then just mark these off on the rim of your speedo with some tipex....

jobs a goodun!!!

as for what i would recommend.... the kyb shocks as mentioned and adjustable springplates....are some of the best things i have bought for my bus.....

Rubbing is now a thing of the past. I finally conceded and put a pair of 185/70/14s on the front and that seems to have done the trick without changing the shocks.
