Just swapping out my gearbox and notice the CV joints are lubed with LM bearing grease..

So is that a problem? should i really be using graphite grease and if so hows best to get all the grease offa the joints?

Thanks

yes wash them out ,i would use petrol diesel mix but any cleaner /solvent should do.repack with proper cv grease,go to your local motor factors, should be enough in one pot for 4 joints.
ment to say take them off shaft first  and renew any cracked gaiters to save doing it again

thats what i thought.. though i was really hoping not to have to do another job! ill take the shafts out completely and do both ends while im at it

thanks

ok i had time last night to get all the CV joints off. The 2 that bolt on the gearbox were packed in LM the 2 bolt to the hubs had the right moly grease in them

I cleaned up one from the hub end and un fortunatly the bearing housing is all pitted and generally crap!

I will check the others later.

Are Just kampers 'GKN' quality joints ok its there close to oem option. or does someone else do better ones?

Also the spreaders required? my bus dont have em presently, my old aircooled t25 also didnt have them?

thanks

GKN joints are very good. You definitely need spreaders or you risk the CV joint coming loose. Use a torque wrench to do them up - 25 ft/lbs or 3.5kg/m.
