I've sourced parts for my Bus from outside of the scene. I went straight to the scrap yard for my seats, took them out myself. I found anti pulse valves for vacum dizzy's from avonbar, a mini shop, are nearly £3 cheaper. I found someone to do the welding who just is good at it and doesn't just do VW's, old school, in his shed style.
Obviously some stuff you have to buy from inside the scene but a little shopping around for other things helps.
If other sources are utilised then perhaps vw suppliers will realise they aren't our only choice for parts and make prices a little more reasonable.
I've spent a fortune on my Bus, it keeps me out of trouble and I only probabaly spend as much as I did on mountain bikes but its still a very expensive hobby.
