Any info where i would get a hammock for Dormobile roof in my
1978 bay Camper. Great roofs but a hammock would be nice
Installed, for extra sleeping space.
Thanks.

Both as mine is without any hammock. Dormobile Web site is upgrading at present.

Spoke with Tim Dubois (Dormobile) recently and he makes hammocks that fit in the front of the van.
Orignal hammock in the roof space you'd need to look for second hand parts and have em recovered, Dormobile sell new covers, frames I've seen at the shows for as little as £15 each

As said before, you'll find frames knocking about shows and fleabay etc.

You can get the proper fabric, but we found a particular brand of camp bed which was exactly the right size - even the rails fitted through nicely. Can't find the details now, but let me know if you would like me to look harder !

Yes. If you could look Harder Please. Is it a complete Hammock system
that just happens to fit or was it made for a Dormobile roof. 8)
Second hand frame etc is probably my best bet. If I can find one.
Hammock for the front I take it is the one over the two front seats.
I may go for that one also but would prefer the roof one.

It's not a complete bunk, just a standard camp bed, from which you can use the fabric on your Dormobile hardware, and keep the frame in the back of your shed in case it comes in handy for something. I've looked back and I got mine from completeoutdoors.co.uk - although that particular model isn't listed at the moment. I'll see if I can find a label on them with a brand name. I got the tip from somebody on one of the other VW sites, and it does pop up there occasionally so might be worth a search to see if you can find a current supplier.

I haven't found any of the info. but it was from http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and a basic, green campbed with a wire frame (not the fancy one they are offering at the moment. If you visit another VW forum (the one starting with a 'V' and ending in 'olkszone'), and look up my old posts you'll see the person who recommended it to me and maybe they kept some info which might help. It was uncanny how good a fit it was, and much better than the old fabric it replaced.

Thanks Loxy,
he's not parting with the Dormy stuff - Thanks any way mate!

Right. Found the paperwork, and it was described as 'army style camp bed', and looked rather like this one http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk/Campbed-3-leg-Army-Style#FEATURES" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (but mine was green).

I can't promise it's the same (they don't bother with namby-pamby things like product numbers), but possibly worth all the interested people tossing a coin to see who's going to risk the first £12.99 +P&P to find out.

I was told that the cheap camp beds from argos fitted the dormobile bunks.I bought 2 last year but haven't tried them yet, they where £9.99 each then and are £12.99 now.

You should also know that the Dormobile roof bunks are tapered ie narrower at one end slightly,so these camp bed covers won't be a perfect fit but may be acceptable for you.

I recently got a catalouge from Tim at Dormobile and it has correct fitting bunk covers sold as a pair for £107.65 including VAT.They come in burgandy, royal blue, mid grey and some others by special order.

I will trial fit my argos camp bed covers tomorrow and let you know if they're ok.

Yes- the Dormobile bunks are tapered which means that standard campbed replacements are tight at one end and slightly looser at the other end, but it's not really enough to tell the difference.

I put the argos camp bed material bit against the dormobile bunk and it should fit ok.The length is exactly right, the width should be ok,I didn't strip my old covers off yet but they should fit.The only thing that would need to be done to the argos covers is to open up the ends where the tubes go as they are sewn up at the ends.
