Contemplating fitting a blower/fan into the heater system - been looking at 3" bilge blowers and mounting it under the front floor.

What about a T4 engine heater fan that is in the engine bay? Does anyone use one on a T1 engine?

Booster fans were available and fitted as stock on later bays. Have a look on the web - lots of info and pics available. They help mainly at tickover, demisting the screen in winter traffic.

I've got a Jake Raby DTM style shroud so no heater ducts standard. I wanted to keep the heater boxes for demisting
and would love to know the easiest way. Would the latebay blower do the trick?

I have fitted a heat booster from Bluebird, only use it for demisting & it does a fantastic job(bought mine years ago when they were only 60 quid)

Had fancied one of those - but when I spoke to Bluebird a few months ago they said they couldn't get them anymore. Maybe I'll call them again.

I was thinking of one of these below the cabin floor, but maybe 2 in the engine compartment - one for each side?

3" diameter ducting

Readily vailable on Ebay for £25 ish.

my main concern is how they would handle the heat, thats why i was thinking of mounting it in the engine bay - i might order 1 and have a play.

Hi!

It's looks all plastic, have you felt how hot the air is coming out of the demister onto the windscreen? I can only stick my fingers in the airflow up to my windscreen for like about 5 seconds before it's too hot to handle. Next time I'm out in the van, I'll get some temp readings - I used to put the babys milk up there for a few mins to warm up when we were driving out and about anywhere.

I think you really need a metal fan blade - such as the fan in a washer dryer or oven? Though as it's mains voltage not much use unless you have a inverter......

Cheers!

Alistair
