Took garage door off only to find my bus still wont fit. i purchaced a pair of adjusters and i have been advised to fit only one as its only 4" drop .......is this normal. would lo ve some thoughts on this. I didnt want a drop but even with a good cover it still sweats. I could raise the door lintle at a push. I really dont want. a van that rubs or bangs after a 1.5 year restoration

How about Transporterhaus dropped spindles? They give you 3 1/2 inch drop, are easier to fit than adjusters and won't stiffen up your suspension, like adjusters.

I had the same problem with mine, but needed 7 inches!

Been on there website tonight they lo. ok g. ood but atre costly. would i need alloys on lowprofiles for the extra half inch? Would love to keep my stock rims

You can run stock rims, but you'll need lower profile tyres, I guess. That'll give you your extra half inch as well. £500 if you trade in your spindles, but you'll need tyres, shocks and maybe bits to lower the back as well.

There was a pair for sale on here not so long ago.

Have you checked the stance thread at the top of the technical area? Loads of pics of different set ups, to give you an idea.

The adjuster route is the simplest and will give you the drop you need. If you go 3" to 4" you can still have a reasonable ride and keep relatively stock aesthetics. You would need 1 spline turn on the rear to even things up. There are companies who offer this service in a day.

MisterListerSir, where about are you? T2D are just outside of Cambridge who can do all kinds of drops from mild to wild, there are others about that offer the same service or kit to do it yourself.

PS Jim Bexley Speed is my hero!

In cornwall and i have a fella in mind for the job but he says i only need one adjuster for a 4" drop. but dont want a rough ride. and must be safe

Thanks Marvel, dropped spindles are ok but very expensive. and i have already got the adjusters. i was never going to lo :x wer it so the budget got spent on paint

you may be dissapointed with Adjusters, **** ride imo. Drop Spindles, Gaz Shocks, New Boots and a spline or two at the rear. Expensive and time consuming (well, in my case it was) but worth it to me.....

Bung in a new lintel etc, well, time consuming and expensive, and to what end?

It is a lot of money mate. I guess you need it sorted soon and as you've got the adjuster, maybe fit it and see how you feel about the ride? I've just heard that adjusters change the ride quality, while the dropped spindles retain the original.

You'll be on a narrowed beam and smart car tyres before you know it!

Two things

1) I had adjusters on my Westy, the ride was horrible, hence I have not gone down this route again on my tintop

2) I know they do, but I don't know how T2D and others can fit these in a day as your are supposed to have the beam 100% degreased before any cutting and welding operations as the grease is flammable...

Dropped spindles are easy to fit, TH have a pictorial step by step so you can do it yourself in your garage with no welding etc etc... I'd recommend this route everytime having experienced BOTH set ups..

Seems like it would be cheaper to raise the lintel on the garage? wouldn't cost £500 for sure. i had 12 inches knocked out of mine and the roller door still fitted.

If you have the adjusters ... fit them and lower the van at the front enough to get in the garage, and match the rear.

If you find the ride too pants to live with, then get dropped spindles in the future, and you still have the adjusters fitted enabling you to tweak the ride height. Id always reccomend adjusters with spindles anyway for this reason. :)

sorry photos took an age but here they are. got vent on self tappers so have to remove each time , and have to lift garage door off until i find funds for a roller...........shes tight as a ducks arse
