HELP! Advice needed re Campervan fines in Spain

I'm planning to drive the vw camper through Spain in June, but have read some towns impose (illegal) fines on campers trying to pass through/stop. Also, lots of people seem to have had stuff nicked.
Does anyone have any advice/experience on this?

all i know is it's advisable to camp on sites and not lay-by's. my grandparents slept for a single night not on a site and were gassed through the roof vent and robbed :shock:

Hmmm...I have wanted to do a road trip taking in Spain for a few years now, in the time I've spoke to people about their experiences, none have been that positive. Theft has cropped up a number of times. With unemployment approaching 20% in Spain and a generally collapsing economy, might be worth giving the big urban centres a miss.
