Hi all,
the interior is going to be re upholstered tommorow - yay! I have all the seats,R&R bed etc out but have no door cards at all, these are standard pieces being bought in by the trimmer....its just dawned on me that most of the trim panels are standard bay, which is good, except for the piece that runs along the rear RHS of the bus from the boot to above the side unit, above the cooler!! is it one piece, where does it join etc

Doris is stripped out in a lock up several miles away, the OG panels are long gone.

Is there any chance someone could be so kind as to take a few pics and give me some diagrams/dimensions for this panel / panels above the dormy cooler please so the trimmer can make up the fillet panel that goes there? ideally a scrap template if anyone has the old Dormy panel in the back of the garage ( can return if needed).

as much pics/detail/editted pics as poss would be gratefully recieved! Thanks in advance - Rob

If you get stuck I will get the measurements from mine tomorrow. Too dark and cold to go outside now.

If you don't mind me asking how much roughly is it to have the rear seat and rear bed cushions re trimmed. I need to get these done on my Dormy soon.

Rob

As promised....

I tried to get the dimensions of the other two panels which go on the sides above the engine but they taper irregularly - if you want ne to make paper templates of these, give me a shout.

Also these are the dimensions for fitting buddy seats as promised to you ages ago! (sorry for the delay!)

Thanks Chaps! Andy,a few questions about the boot panels please. I've numbered the panels in the pic for ease of reference...
Dormybootpanelsnumbered.jpg

Q1 - I take it no1 is the bit above the Dormobile side cupboard?
Q2 - which is LHS & RHS from the other two?
Q3 - are panels 2 & 3 what would be found in any standard bus,i.e. not Dormobile specific ?
Q4 - do panels 2 & 3 go right up to meet the wheel arch panels?
Q5 - what is the cut out for on the lower part of no.3,I'd say fuel filler but looks like the spare wheel rubber buffers are on the same panel? :? yours a LHD? cos its a 71? just don't remember it on my 69.
Q6 - I recall my original boot panels being secured by the usual push clips, not screws/caps as it appears in the pic - am I mistaken and screws are factory or have these been screwed in at a later time? is there push clip holes in the body around the boot area?

Totally different question if you can help... when the trimmer lined up the rock & roll bed, he noticed that the boot section was slightly wider than the seat back section. now then,In order to make sure the lines of the fluting on all three sections line up when the bed is put up, he needs to know....
does the outside RHS edge of folding seat section (when raised and put in position on top of the cupboard) line up with the RHS edge of the boot section, along the RH body side,or does it sit in the centre of the boot section or what ever? once we know where the seat section sit in relation to the boot section, he can put the flutes in the correct position accordingly.
I've done a little paint diagram if that helps.notice the edge along the side of the bus, the top one shows all sections of the bed sit parrallel, where as the second one shows the seat section sits centrally to the boot section....phew!

as ever VERY gratefull the help!!! - Rob

Rob

OK here goes!.....

Q1 - yes
Q2 - No 3 is LHS
Q3 - Im fairly sure these are Dormobile specific as I have seen them in other Dormys
Q4 - See pics below
Q5 - Mine is a UK RHD. Cut out is for upper bracket for spare wheel securing strap - see pics below
Q6 - The clips in the photo are the two part original Dormobile plastic clips (they have discoloured slightly - I have managed to round up sufficient spares in good condition to replace)

Re your other question; unfortunately the interior is out of the van at the moment but I have tried my best to line up the cushions on the lounge floor and photograph (I have assumed that the cushions come flush against the RHS of the van when bed is up as per your 1st diagram, which Im fairly sure it does when the seat back is slid fully accross when horizontal)

(Fluted Detail is 3mm wide and dimensions are to C/L of flute)

Hope this helps :)

Andy - YOU'RE A STAR! Thanks mate, thats all great! just to confirm, whats holding the rear panels in then, push in clips or are they screws with caps on?

She's going to be cherry red vinyl so I've found some red screw cap covers on ebay in case I need to go down that route and screw them on,not ideal but better than white ones & the OG clips,as you say are near non existant.

Thanks again Andy - you've been a real help,I'll let you know how I'm getting on.can't wait to see it all recovered! Think I'm going to get the exta bed cushions made as well while I'm at it - hence the other thread!!

ps I may have to come back to you for some pics when I come to fitting the buddy seats if thats OK,as I think that a) my wardrobe needs moving over a bit or b) there are different width wardrobes, but thats another story

Kind Regards - Rob

My clips are the 2 piece white kinda semi-transparent plastic clips that I have seen on other 70/71/72 Dormies. Thinking about it, I think Rikki James's old velvet green 69 had the 1 piece chrome clips (similar to Westies??)

Just found this pic which actually has both types of clip strangely (cant remember where the pic came from though definitely a pre 71 Dormy because of curtains)

Took this one of clips I have also (seem to have 1 chrome clip - think it was on a body cut I bought ages ago):

Will be good to see your van when its done mate, sounds like yours will be ready before mine.

Give me a shout whenever about buddy seats etc

Andy :)

Thanks again Andy.I havn't any of those clips so I think I'll have to put a rubber plug in the hole and use the screw & cap method. I thought mine would be ready the end of last year!!! think the restorer just works on it when he runs out of money  but he is lead loading it instead of filling :D

look what I found on ebay Andy...not the two piece clips but any good to ya?
