Where do you guys fit yours? I bought the components and am just making the harness up but thought I might locate the relay and fuse in the engine bay. Looking at some of the pictures of the kits I've seen the wire tails are over a metre long so I assume they are designed to go in the engine bay?

Engine bay is always best. I mounted mine outside the engine bay and it got wet with snow and drove itself with the starter uphill over a curb and into the neighbors yard. That was after a glancing blow off their friends Honda Fit.

 oops

Well that's that sorted! Can't believe the difference to be honest. I had fitted a new starter before realising it was the wiring causing the issue but it spins over so much faster than it ever did now. In fact I had taken it for granted that in the winter it would spin slowly because of the 20/50 oil I use but you'd never know now.

Only pain of the new starter I got (non-Bosch) is that it doesn't have the little niblick on the back to hold the long bolt from turning when you tighten the nut behind the fan shroud but other than that it's all good.
