I know this is abit of forward thinking, but how do people heat up there vans in the winter, or does anybody know the best way of :D

I have heat exchangers and they work fine, (as long as you are moving!) 8)

If you need heat while stopped the old bluebird propex heater is basically the best around. 8)

Depends on wether you are after the sahara in the back or enough to take the chill out of those icy days

1. small ceramics 12V woorking will do the latter as well as being effective demisters

2. as easy has said the propex and espacher amongst others running on petrol or diesel or lpg

3. Big Verns sheepskin coat
:D

how good are the propex and espacher amongst others, as thats what I will need :D I use it every day, so I dont wanna be cold and where does it fit

The propex is amazing! super warm really quick. It does take up a fair amount of room as you need the gas bottle aswell, but it hides under the r n r bed nicely. You do need it installed by a qualified gas dude tho, due to new regs.

You can also sort it so that it comes through all of your normal vents in the van or just in the back etc. Not the cheapest but well worth the cash 8) :D

the good thing about the espacher is it can be fed from yor fuel line again best place to install is under the rear bench you will need to vent the exhaust so drilling through the skin of your bus as with the propex.

Whichever they are both expensive but comfort assured :D

always available on ebay varrying quality watchout,

Again get them fitted properly and regular maintenance afterall its a combustion engine within your nice flamable interior  many a bus has been lost.

PROPEX without a doubt. very very hot. If you get someone to fit they do have to be Corgi registered which is a pain as most will not fit in vans. Or you can fit yourself.

Propex, every time.

Me and my dad-in-law (corgi man!) fitted one in my last bay and it was great. If you call Propex direct then sometimes they have recon units a bit cheaper. I got mine for £300 with a 12 month guarantee.

Allow another £50 or so for a gas bottle and pipes etc. Don't bother with the blue bottle gas, you'll have to use the orange bottle (propane) as it will still work in really cold weather, wheras the blue one won't work in anything less than about 8 degrees C, which kind of defeats the object.......

check out the JK forum, there are loads of threads on there that will help.....

Leave the camper in the garage with a wall heater. Don't drive it till spring!

I got a propex and heat exchangers Shaggy, the propex is amazing. Will get you some dimentions, but it is worth loseing any little space they take up :p

Leave it in the garage, few probs with that, I dont have a garage, think that my biggest prob and the gf wont let it sleep in the bed...BOOOO! also I need it to get to work its my only car, and how could I not drive such a beautiful thing every day :D

My old bus had new heat exchangers from GSF & worked well enough to defrost a window! Not that comon a trick in a bus. You can get a fan to assist the air flow from Bluebird customs that goes in line of the original heating.

Propex is great when you are camped up. You have perfect heat without the engine running. Bluebird customs have a sister company, Bluebird Awnings. Early bay member should be able to get a Propex 2000 delivered to your door for £350.

I will be having one in my bay!

(I have a mereged exhaust at the mo, so no heating at all)!

Would like one in mine, but dude to space etc I am gonna go without. They are well worth it but I usually just put a hoody on and save meself the £350 plus fitting

My heat ex's work perfectly. Plenty of heat at the windscreen and toasy toes all winter long. The problem is that while I'm lovely and warm in the cab, little r is in the back, too frozen to cry out. Solution: Propex.

My top tip. They occasionally get units returned for whatever fault. They recondition them back to 'new' condition but, do not advertise them for sale. I bought an 'as new' heatsource 1800 directly from them. The unit was refurbed but all the rest of the bits (including thermostat) were new in the pack. All this and a 12 month warranty to my door for just over £200. The gas bottle from my cooker fuels it as well.

Having never attempted anything like this before, I was able to install it myself in about 2 hours.

Put it on the thermostat and bang! Instant central heating in yer bus.

if you're about to lay out the cash for one, ring them up and ask for Roger in Parts. he's yer man.

Edit: A propex is NOT MoTable (as in not looked at by tester). If you have camper insurance (as I do) it is covered, even if you install it yourself. I'd check with your insurer though, as I did.
