At last I bought a propex 2000 to install. Have been looking at various threads for positions so know which way to go. I am considering two positions :

1. On the floor under the bed unit - but I continued my plywood on closed cell foam underlay and vinyl tiles under this area
2. On the sloping bulkead under the seat/bed - where i've fitted dynamat type stuff with the black soft adhesive layer

Can anyone tell me if the unit itself gets very hot, i don't want to be melting anything or anything smelling. I could always put a bit of non-combustible sheet under I suppose (superlux or similar) if needed.

Cheers in advance

It doesn't get very hot but I would try to avoid contact with anything conbustable. (Dynamat smells really bad when it gets hot). The hot air pipe does get too hot to touch after a long stint though.

Also be very careful when putting in screws in the area shown in the above picture - the fuel tank is there and surprisingly close (Only a few mm away)

A superlux base would be fine if you wanted theres nothing stopping you building a small box out of the stuff and that way you can store stuff on top of it like spare blankets all toasty for those real cold nights...
