How important are Paper clips??

Not real paper clips obviously, but I noticed as a mate was building a type 4 engine the other night that he was fitting pushrod retaining clips, look like big bent paper clips!!
So when I got to work I checked if I had fitted any, I haven't!!!

Are they very important??

They are a £10er each @ JK seems a bit dear, anyone got any spare???

Yep it was a new one on me too!!
No one had any experience of these things??

i suppose many of you early boys have type 1 engines and don't have them, me being a late have them on my 2 litre - they are a fiddly gitbag to fit.
