Assuming OG paint and no significant body damage, I'd say £6.5k off the boat as it stands.

12 to 15K, I reckon. (It's lovely, buy it!!)

It has the potential to be worth that , but not as it is I wouldn't have thought.

just checking that i am reading this correct mike, you reckon that if its as straight and good as it looks - i.e. no filler og paint and good chassis etc you reckon its worth £6.5k if in the UK???

if this is correct i am very surprised as you look at what is coming from the states - LHD - which needs battery tray, sometimes floor and sometimes attention around window, without considering things like new seals etc for £5-8k???

i was under the impression - maybe incorrectly as i have looke don the likes of g-day kombi site - that RHD runners are priced alot higher?

what do you reckon it would need to be around the 12-15k mark?? obviously a good interior. surprised that its not worth around the 12k as is and more if it had a good interior

Got to agree, £6500 seems on the low side for a running 1 owner from new RHD camper which appears to be very original. For someone who values RHD over LHD, it's got to be worth more than an identical LHD bus...

I doubt there's that much return on it if it were imported though.

some examples of RHD Oz imports with OG paint on 2nd page. around £18500 mark!!! i know they have an actual operating camping interior and a pop top, but....

Im maybe being harsh? The vans from the US are usually deluxes or Westys whereas this is a standard kombi. Also the prices of projects have dropped off significantly of late.

Ill assume from the pics that the seats are toast, so i'd take it that the interior in general is going to be worn, the camping interior is interesting but very individual, many buyers would be nonplussed by it.
The engine all looks ok .. something going on with the air filter? There are some small body mods I can see, like sockets etc, suggesting there will be some rectification required. on my phone, I reckon the long non-slider sill looks a bit squiffy?

So, i think it would take some work to be up to £12-15k, £15k is pretty much top price for early bays that arent exceptional (like yours!) at the moment, I think, and I reckon it would take a fair amount of work/money to make this exceptional. :) Dont get me wrong though, looks a nice start! 8)

G'Day Kombis do price enthusiastically :) and stay in business, so I guess there is a market there at those prices, in which case ... fair do's! :D

Fair points Mike.

i'm not going to be bidding on this one, but was interesting to see what good looking (from photos) buses are going for :) if i'm in oz I HAVE to get myself a kombi mate :). and Liz wont let me get a project for obvious reasons hehe.

For me personally a RHD van is worth 30% more than a LHD of equivalent spec / condition. Maybe I was a bit over the top at 12 -15K but assuming it needs no welding at all (which is a pretty reasonable assumption from my knowledge of Aussie vans when I've been over there) all it really would want is a nice s/h Devon interior putting in it (Like the one ant has for sale), go through the brakes, lights, suspension and tyres. Which would probably only be around a grand tops if you are doing the work yourself.

Revised valuation - £10 to 12K. I see its up to 10,300 AUD (approx £7130) with 2 days to go - it'll be really interesting to see what it goes for.

I'm guessing no more than $13K at the end of the auction. Add another $4K AUD for shipping. Another thousand pounds for duties when it gets here. In the end you'll be looking at around 12-13K GBP which is more than it is worth.

Gone are the days where it was viable to steal all of our solid Aussie bus'. Oz has become so expensive. You're going to have a big shock when you get there Nafe. Melbourne has become the 4th most expensive city in the world behine Sydney, Osaka and Tokyo.

So if you want a solid bus at a reasonable price, steal them off the Americans. ;)

Hi Nathan, good news on the job by the way

The thing is all the buses the Gday have for sale include all of the work to get them ready, don't forget that this may still need this.

The market is very fical at the moment and buses are not selling for what they were, Clems figure may seem low but personally as its stands without being checked over I don't think hes that far out, I would have said £7.5 -£8K tops as its going to need work whatever and has no interior to speak of.

I think the 30% difference between LHD & RHD is no longer the case with good LHD buses selling for close to RHD ones,

My view of course but the market is a bit flat.

My Oz import has an air filter like that, do other warm countries use this style?

I thought that style of air filter was for dusty enivronments?

To do list:
Mot
Service
Mop and polish
Interior (seat covers, rnr bed, table, buddy seat, curtains)
Uk registration

If it is as good as it looks and the market isnt saturated I can't see you getting less than £12k

But off the boat as it is £7 to £9k as people are often after a bargain if it doesn't tick the boxes above.

It looks great and RHD so will sell if finished and advertised right.

well it went for $13,800 so approx £9500 in the end. suppose i wont know how good the bus was. i did request more pics and details, but got fobbed off with..."i'm selling on behalf of a friend, please contact him"

good points raised with all the extra costs.

i think that if i want a bargain it will mean tracking down one in a field or barn etc. the aussies have become wise!!!

I wasn't too far off. There are still bargains out there in Oz. Just don't look in the usual places.

To say the Aussies have got wise is nice of you to say, but it's probably more to it than that. VW bus prices have over inflated over the last 5 or so years and the bubble is due to burst like it did here. Have you had a look at carsales yet? This will give you an idea of prices at the minute. http://www.carsales.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?WT.z_pgnsrc=bottom&tabID=3012965&distance=25&vertical=Car&eapi=2&page=1&sort=Price&N=1216%201246%201247+1252%201282%204294962746&silo=stock&Range=Price:Min,Max~1%7CMileage:Min,Max%7CYear:Min,1980%7CSeats:Min,Max%7CEngineSize:Min,Max" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
