HI I'm looking for an early bay as a project and i think i've found a '68 devon.
I was wondering if any of you would know how much i should be paying for her?
It's rough around the edges need front 2 out riggers, cab floor is showing signs of rust ,breaks have failed, interior is missing parts, and the off side sill is dented, there are some crude repairs done to the body work and its been standing for above a year.
Any advise would be very welcome.
Thank. :?:

difficult to assess without pics and lots of, one mans shed is another mans minta....

originality of parts on devons is a biggey

its a 68 is that model or build year?

crude repairs as your probably aware can lead to allsorts of issues, you need to be sure in your mind and overestimate the repairs to be on the safe side.

How much of a project are you after or is it finance driven

Idealy I'd like something that needs some work that it can be used while being sorted.
Eg. something that needs some attention to get through an mot but still requires a good restoration shedule to get it to a decent standard.
I have a spare 1641 engine and 1600 box from a 79 bay that i once owned.
As long as its not a complete 6/8 inch bottom up rebuild I'd consider it.
The 68 I mentioned has front panel rust bottom of window where they always go also slight creasing by fron head light cause of front mounted spare wheel. Theres rust holes starting above front window on roof and on the rear near side on roof but the gutter is fine. I think its had work done before as ther are no rear quarter lights and the engine is a new vege unit.
The price of the vans now is so vast I need a rough guide price and condition they should be in to help me get back into the community.

Pictures would be a help but earlybay camper projects that are even worth considering seem to start at around the £1000 mark.I paid a bit less than this 3 years ago and it's needed a lot of welding and bodywork and engine work etc.

Make sure you're able to do all the work before you even consider buying it.
